Will I "Ban Bossy"?
It was very exciting to see two women that I truly admire (Sheryl Sandberg and Beyonce) team up on this powerful campaign. Both of these women have impacted my life in many ways and I couldn’t think of anyone better to represent this campaign. I find it interesting that I don’t consider myself a feminist in any way; however, I fully support “Ban Bossy.” I have always looked at feminists as complainers and women who try to make a big deal out of nothing, but there’s something about this campaign that doesn’t make me think of |
feminism at all. I simply find that this campaign raises an important issue that should be considered by both males and females. The “Ban Bossy” campaign isn’t about banning a word; it’s about banning an idea—the idea that women should assume their position in life and should never break society’s mold of what a woman ‘should be.’ Gender should have no say in a person’s ambition, career path, or leadership capabilities. Once society as a whole can come to the realization that gender has no say, then we can move forward towards a better tomorrow—a tomorrow where everyone agrees to “Ban Bossy.”
